Selling Power released its Selling Power 500 which analyzes the top sales forces in the US. Interesting to note that the total number of sales people has risen since 2009 – a small piece of good news amongst corporate down sizings.
The total number of salespeople employed by all 500 companies listed adds up to 21,705,940, which represents an increase of about 2 percent, or a little more than 300,000 salespeople, as compared with last year.
The growth is entirely attributable to direct sales positions which grew while all other types of sales roles shrank, providing continued evidence that economy and the Internet continue to shift the ground under the profession of sales.
